Wrinkle Removal

Wrinkle Removal

Wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process. They occur most frequently in areas exposed to the sun, such as the face, neck, back of the hands and forearms. Over time, skin gets thinner, drier and less elastic. Ultimately, this causes wrinkles - either fine lines or deep furrows. In addition to sun exposure, premature aging of the skin is associated with smoking, heredity and skin type (higher incidence among people with fair hair, blue-eyes and light skin).

Treatment for wrinkles runs the gamut from topical creams and moisturizers to cosmetic procedures. The most common medical treatments are:

  • Alpha-hydroxy acids : Preparations made from "fruit acids" that produce subtle improvements in the appearance of wrinkles.
  • Antioxidants: Creams consisting of Vitamins A, C and E and beta-carotene that improves the appearance of wrinkles and provides some additional sun protection.
  • Moisturizers: Can temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
  • Vitamin A Acid: Helps alleviate some of the signs of aging, including mottled pigmentation (e.g., liver spots), roughness and wrinkling.

Restylane for a More Youthful Appearance

As we age, our skin doesn’t always show our youthful energy. Previously, if you wanted to get rid of wrinkles and saggy skin, there weren’t many options available. You might have been told to try out this lotion, or that lotion, but at the end of the day you didn’t notice an improvement.  With advancements in cosmetic dermatology, we have a solution for you.

At our dermatology office, we offer Restylane for our patients that can be injected into those crow’s feet, marionette lines and furrows between the brows to take years off your face.  And what is even better is that this can all be done during your lunch hour with no invasive surgery and little recovery time. Let’s take a closer look at Restylane to help you achieve a more youthful appearance.

Restylane Lasts Longer than Most Dermal Fillers
Restylane is a soft tissue dermal filler that lasts longer than other leading fillers. It contains calcium-based microspheres, which stimulate your skin to make new collagen, and is an immediate correction in a treatment that can be performed over a lunch hour. Restylane is a next generation dermal filler that is FDA approved, safe, convenient and long lasting.

Through Restylane, we can focus on various trouble zones, including:

  • Smile lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Corners of the mouth
  • Pre-jowl
  • Chin wrinkles

How Restylane Works
The best way to erase lines and folds is to replace lost structure with immediate volume and Restylane does just that. With Restylane, it works immediately to provide results that are instant. Once injected, this volumizing filler works to add the volume and lift that is needed to eliminate signs of aging. And what makes Restylane unique from other dermal fillers is its ability to act as a scaffold under the skin to provide structure while also stimulating natural collagen to grow. Over several months, the production of natural collagen will continue and extend beyond the initial effect of Restylane.

Best of all, results from Restylane have been clinically proven to last a year or more in many patients. What does this mean for you? This means that there is more value with each treatment and results are long-lasting. However, it is important to remember that results may vary from patient to patients, but one thing is true, you will be happy with your more youthful appearance.

Juvederm

Juvederm is a dermal filler that provides a non-invasive way to attain a more youthful appearance.  It is a non-surgical wrinkle treatment that, when injected into the skin, restores the skin’s volume and hydration.  Juvederm is used to smooth away wrinkles and nasolabial folds, otherwise known as smile lines.
Juvederm before and after
A specially formulated gel, composed of cross-linked hyaluronic acid, Juvederm was developed by Allergan, the manufacturer for Botox, and approved for cosmetic use by the FDA in 2006.  The smooth consistency of Juvederm allows it to be easily and accurately administered by your MedSpa specialist.  Each treatment requires approximately 15 minutes, depending on the number of injections required.  Results with Juvederm are immediate.

Your rejuvenated appearance is temporary, and can be maintained for up to one year with results varying from person to person.  Hyaluronic acid is a natural protein, allowing Juvederm to gradually be absorbed into the body.  Additionally injections, or touch ups, may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results.  The natural protein used, allows Juvederm to pose little risk of an allergic reaction and does not require an allergy test prior to treatment.
